Selected by the Anaheim Ducks with the No. 10 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, Nick Ritchie signed an entry-level contract with the Ducks on Aug. 2, 2014, and turned pro after playing one more season in the Ontario Hockey League with Peterborough and Sault Ste. Marie.
In 2015-16, Ritchie put up 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 38 games with San Diego of the American Hockey League to earn a midseason call-up by Anaheim, where he had four points (two goals, two assists) in 33 games.

However, in 2016-17, Ritchie made his presence known for the Ducks. After getting 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 77 regular-season games, Ritchie scored the game-winning goal early in the third period of Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Edmonton Oilers to send the Ducks to conference final.
After three more seasons in Anaheim, including in 2018-19, when he had an NHL career-high 31 points (nine goals, 22 assists) in 60 games, Ritchie was traded on Feb. 24, 2020, to the Boston Bruins, who his older brother, Brett Ritchie, also played for.
