IN THE ROOM: BILL PETERS
12:25 p.m.
After the Hurricanes' final morning skate of the season, head coach Bill Peters met with the media. Here are some highlights, and the fulll availability can be seen below.
On Nicolas Roy's debut: "There's no pressure. Just go out and have fun. I think he'll play well. He looked real good here this morning. He's come a long way since we originally drafted him. He's filled out, he's a big, strong guy and he's skating real fluid."
On Mike Vellucci's take on Roy and the Checkers: "He's been happy with him and a lot of these guys in their first year pro. That team has been real consistent all year. … Some real good development going on down there at this stage."
On what NHL stints can do for some of the Checkers prior to the Calder Cup Playoffs: "It will be an exciting time for them to play playoff hockey. They'll go down there with lots of confidence. … We want them to go play at the pace they're playing at now."
On Tampa Bay and tonight's game: "They'll be competitive, and so will we. We're going to concentrate on our start. Our starts the last two nights out on the road haven't been very good. We've given up too many shots and too many scoring chances. The first 20 is going to be important for us tonight."

CANES END SEASON AGAINST BOLTS
12:00 a.m.
It's curtains on the 2017-18 regular season for the Carolina Hurricanes, who host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night in their season finale.
For the ninth year in a row, the Hurricanes won't be playing past game No. 82, but they will be looking to wrap up the season with two points in front of the home fans.
"We've got to do it right," said Sebastian Aho, who is one goal away from tallying 30 in his sophomore season. "In the last game, we want to play well and do it right, the way we want to do it."
"We've got to really come together as a group and finish this off. Tonight is not the way we play to our identity," Klas Dahlbeck said after the Canes fell 4-3 in Philadelphia on Thursday. "Everybody in this room knows we can do a lot better, even though they are in a playoff hunt and we're not. We're a better team than we showed tonight."
The Hurricanes have lost three games in a row heading into Saturday's match-up with an old Southeast Division foe, but the Canes are winners in two of their last three games at home. The Lightning topped the Buffalo Sabres 7-5 on Friday night in their final home game of the season. At the moment, Tampa Bay sits in first place in the Eastern Conference with 112 points (54-23-4).
The Hurricanes recalled forward Nicolas Roy from Charlotte on Friday. The 21-year-old forward has recorded 37 points (10g, 27a) in 68 games with the Checkers this season. Roy posted a career-high four points (1g, 3a) against Lehigh Valley in a 6-1 win on Wednesday.
Cam Ward is likely to start in net for the Hurricanes.
CANESPR NOTES: Derek Ryan is riding a career-long, six-game point streak (2g, 6a). Ryan has tallied career highs across the board this season in goals (15), assists (23) and points (38). … The Hurricanes have found the back of the net first in six of their last nine games and are 28-12-5 when scoring first this season.
