RALEIGH, NC. -The Carolina Hurricanes announced a working agreement with the Norfolk Admirals on Thursday, continuing a partnership that began ahead of the 2021-22 season.

After two seasons of being the official ECHL affiliate of the Canes, Norfolk announced a new formal affiliation with the Winnipeg Jets last week. However, because there are only 28 organizations in the ECHL, leaving four NHL teams without a partner, Carolina will also be able to assign prospects to Norfolk.

"We are pleased to continue our important relationship with the Norfolk Admirals," Hurricanes President and General Manager Don Waddell said. "They are a great organization which we will continue to utilize in developing our young talent."

While the partnership is not to be seen as a direct substitute for not having an American Hockey League affiliate for the 2023-24 campaign, having a place for several up-and-coming players to play in North America is a welcomed ability for the back-to-back Metropolitan Division Champions.

2019 sixth round draft pick Blake Murray skated in 29 games with Norfolk last season, totaling 10 goals, 7 assists, and 17 points.
