It's almost time to release the Kraken ... almost.
The Sharks were required to share their list of protected players on July 17, which included the following 10 players:

Ahead of the deadline, San Jose acquired goaltender Adin Hill and a 2022 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for goalie Josef Korenar and a 2022 second-round draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes.
That left the following players available, including unrestricted free agents:

Seattle can choose one player from each team's list of unprotected players, including a player scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. If they pick an unrestricted free agent they would have to sign him by the time free agency begins on July 28 or let him become a free agent. (For example, Seattle could select Patrick Marleau, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, and that would count as the Kraken's pick from the Sharks. He would either then sign with the club or become a free agent).
You may have noticed that some names are missing from both the protected and unprotected lists. Some players on the Sharks roster and reserve list, like Mario Ferraro, will be exempt from this year's expansion draft due to the amount of time spent in the NHL or if they're an unsigned draft pick.
The expansion draft takes place on Wednesday, July 21 at 5 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2.
