The Nashville Predators are back at Bridgestone Arena tonight to host the penultimate game of their preseason schedule, with the Carolina Hurricanes in town. It's the fifth of six contests for the Preds on the exhibition slate - No. 6 is also against the Canes - with the final meeting set for Sunday afternoon in Raleigh.
For the Predators, tonight's lineup will have a much closer feel to what should be expected on Opening Night, now just over one week away. Nashville cut their roster down to 28 players over the past 48 hours, and Preds Head Coach Peter Laviolette expects to try out line combinations and defensive pairings that could be seen in the regular season.
That includes giving the line of Ryan Johansen centering Filip Forsberg and Kevin Fiala another try. The trio combined for five goals and 13 points against Florida in their preseason game on Sept. 17, and Nashville's coaching staff could elect to keep Fiala on that line as opposed to Viktor Arvidsson, who skated with Craig Smith and Kyle Turris during Monday's practice.

Even so, there are still spots to be won in the coming days, and tonight's contest could go a long way in determining who might ultimately receive those chances.
"We're looking at line combinations, we're looking at power play units and there's a few guys still here trying to make our team," Laviolette said. "There's guys trying to re-establish themselves more inside of our lineup and inside of our team, so all those opportunities remain."
Last Time Out:
The Predators finished off a home-and-home set in Tampa Bay with a 5-2 loss to the Lightning on Saturday night. Calle Jarnkrok and Ryan Ellis tallied for Nashville on the night, while Juuse Saros spent the whole game between the pipes - however, the final two Lightning goals came with an empty net. Viktor Arvidsson posted primary assists on both Preds goals.
