evgeni malkin vacation

The Pittsburgh Penguins ended 2016 with a 4-3 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens and entered the new year with a five-day break. While some players enjoyed relaxing home, others seized the opportunity to travel. Here is a breakdown of what they did…

Evgeni Malkin went to Miami:
"It was a good vacation. We went to the pool, chilled all day, played with my son (Nikita). I liked it. We swam in the pool. The ocean was a little bit cold. The pool was a little bit warmer. I don't like cold. It was nice weather, no rain, nothing. It was an amazing time with my family."
On vacationing as a dad:
"No restaurants anymore, no going out, stay at home. But it's good. I like it. I'm 30 years old. I'm pretty old (laughs). I like it because my son started moving more. He has energy, like a lot. I'm not resting. I'm moving with him all day."
Sidney Crosby found colder weather:
"I am happy to be back. I went to Vail (Colorado). I missed having a winter and got a little bit of one there. It was a good few days. I think we should have a lot of energy coming out of it."
Ian Cole went to Palm Springs:
"I wasn't there long enough; I'm still quite pale. I played golf and just relaxed. It is nice to be back and good to see the boys again. I missed them, especially Schultzy's toothless grin."
Justin Schultz went home for family time:
"I went back home to Kelowna, British Columbia. I hung out with my family since I didn't get to see them for Christmas. It was nice to see them."
Olli Maatta had visitors to Pittsburgh:
"I just relaxed and had some friends over. It was nice to have them over here because it was the first time for them. Having those 5 days off recharged our mind and energy so we are excited to be back."
Nick Bonino went somewhere new:
"I went down to Charleston with the wife and the baby. I have never been and heard it was an amazing city. We just explored, walked around, went to some museum and relaxed."
Trevor Daley relaxed:
"I didn't do anything too crazy, just tried to hangout with family. It was a good time to spend with them. I'm ready to get going again. (The break) worked out for me because I was a little bit banged up before."
Conor Sheary traveled to Florida:
"I was down in Florida. My fiancé has a place down there, so it was with her. It was awesome. We had good weather and just tried to be outside as much as possible."
Bryan Rust enjoyed time in the Bahamas:
"I had a little vacation with my family and my girlfriend. We went to the Bahamas. I just tried to relax as much as I could. I'm excited to be back and am ready for the next stretch of the season."
