The Panthers ‘Celebration of Hispanic Excellence’ program recognizes individuals nominated by their peers, colleagues, families or friends for the positive impact they are making in South Florida and beyond. This includes business owners, educators, creators, healthcare workers, public servants, executives and more.

In previous weeks, leaders in public service and education and business have been highlighted.

For week three, the Panthers will recognize honorees in nonprofit.

Mari Campuzano

Senior Director, Organizational Growth & Development and People Operations, YoungArts​

Dr. Mari Campuzano is the Senior Director of Organizational Growth & Development and People Operations at YoungArts, where she works to cultivate a culture of excellence, belonging, and growth within an organization dedicated to supporting the next generation of artists. A passionate leader, educator, and community advocate, Dr. Campuzano has dedicated her career to developing people and creating environments where individuals can reach their full potential, demonstrated through her civic engagement with organizations such as Leadership Miami, Junior League of Miami, and Dolphins Cancer Challenge. As a former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader, she has remained deeply connected to the sports and entertainment community via research and mentoring current members of the Dolphins Cheerleaders organization and encouraging women to pursue leadership, confidence, and personal growth.​

Teri Fuentes

Board Member, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County​

Teri Fuentes is a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. Teri is a passionate advocate for the organization's mission to ignite the power and promise of youth through mentoring relationships, championing programs that help young people build confidence and prepare for meaningful careers. She is also a Senior Vice President and Producing Leader at Lockton Companies; the world’s largest privately held insurance brokerage. With more than 30 years of experience in employee benefits and healthcare consulting, Teri is a trusted advisor to organizations navigating an increasingly complex healthcare and economic environment. Teri leads client relationships and multidisciplinary teams serving middle-market, national, and global organizations, partnering closely with C-suite and HR leaders to align benefits strategy with broader business priorities and long-term sustainability. As a Crown Member, she actively supports Women on the Verge, a network of female leaders expanding educational opportunities for Broward County students in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, helping remove financial barriers to college and postsecondary education through a scholarship fund that has awarded more than $266,000since 2013.​

Cristine Hernandez

VP of Development, Chapman Partnership​

Cristine Love Hernandez is a senior nonprofit development leader with a distinguished record of driving organizational growth through strategic fundraising, cross-functional partnership, and community-centered philanthropy. Currently serving as Vice President of Development at Chapman Partnership—and the youngest person to hold the role in the organization’s history—Cristine leads development strategy and operations, partnering closely with organizational leadership and the Board of Directors to advance sustainable revenue growth and long-term mission impact. Across progressive leadership roles at Chapman Partnership and United Way of Miami-Dade, Cristine has built and overseen comprehensive fundraising portfolios spanning major gifts, corporate partnerships, institutional giving, employee campaigns, and signature events. Her leadership has supported multimillion-dollar fundraising efforts and the cultivation of high-value donor and corporate relationships critical to organizational sustainability and scale. Cristine brings a strategic, data-informed approach to development, aligning fundraising operations with organizational priorities while strengthening governance engagement, donor stewardship, and team performance. She is recognized forbuilding high-performing development teams, launching and revitalizing donor engagement initiatives, and translating vision into measurable results that expand both revenue and impact. A respected voice in South Florida’s philanthropic and civic landscape, Cristine has been recognized for her leadership and contributions to the community, including the Rising Star Award from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the South Florida Business & Wealth Prestigious Women Awards – Rising Star in the Nonprofit category. She is also actively engaged in community leadership and serves in multiple leadership and advisory capacities supporting nonprofit advancement, youth education, and community development. Cristine is a bilingual professional who holds a Certification in Major Gift Development from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She is deeply committed to advancing mission-driven organizations through disciplined strategy, collaborative leadership, and philanthropy that delivers lasting, community-level change.​

Fernanda Jorgensen

Executive Director, PhilanthropyMiami​

Fernanda K. Jorgensen is the founding Executive Director of PhilanthropyMiami, the leading convener and capacity-builder for South Florida's social impact sector. In that role, she advances leadership, collaboration, and sustainability among Miami-Dade's nonprofit organizations through education, networking, and resource-sharing initiatives designed to strengthen the region's capacity for lasting change. Fernanda's two-decade career reflects a steadfast commitment to equity and community impact. Before joining PhilanthropyMiami, she served as Director of Programs at the Health Foundation of South Florida, managing more than $15 million in grants across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties to advance health equity. Her career began at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she spent 11 years leading public health initiatives, including a pioneering telehealth research program at the Ryder Trauma Center, and later consulted with a telehealth start-up to expand access to specialty care for remote civilian and government medical facilities. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and raised in South Florida, Fernanda holds a B.A. in Anthropology and a Master of Public Health from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, along with a business certificate from UM's Herbert Business School. She's a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Miami program, currently serves on United Way Miami's Health Impact Council, and has held advisory roles with the Salvation Army and The Miami Foundation, along with grant-reviewer roles for Miami-Dade County and the Florida Association of Free & Charitable Clinics.​

Jose Lopez Masso

VP of Public Affairs & Government Relations, Lighthouse of Broward​

For more than two decades, Jose Lopez-Masso has dedicated his career to improving the lives of individuals who are blind and visually impaired while serving as a respected leader throughout South Florida. As Senior Vice President of Public Affairs & Government Relations at Lighthouse of Broward, he's become a powerful advocate for accessibility, inclusion, employment opportunities, and community engagement, work rooted in his own journey. After losing his vision to glaucoma as a young adult, Jose transformed that life-changing challenge into a lifelong commitment to helping others, refusing to let blindness define him and instead becoming an example of resilience and leadership. At Lighthouse of Broward, Jose leads government relations, public affairs, corporate partnerships, and philanthropic initiatives that generate critical funding for children, adults, seniors, veterans, and families living with vision loss. His leadership has helped secure significant investments from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and community partners, expanding opportunities for thousands of individuals throughout Broward County. Beyond fundraising, he's built lasting relationships with civic leaders, elected officials, and businesses across South Florida, increasing awareness of disability inclusion while forging partnerships that improve education, employment, healthcare access, and independent living for the blind and visually impaired community. Jose is equally passionate about mentoring others and promoting leadership within the Hispanic community, known for his integrity, compassion, and ability to unite people around a shared mission of building a more inclusive, accessible community. That commitment has been widely recognized: in 2025 he received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award from the AFP Broward Chapter, one of the nonprofit sector's highest honors, and was named a Miami Marvel by the Miami Herald. In 2026, American Heritage Schools honored him as its Volunteer of the Year for his dedication to mentoring students and inspiring the next generation of community leaders. Throughout his career, Jose has been guided by one simple belief, that every person deserves the opportunity to live independently, pursue their dreams, and reach their full potential regardless ofdisability​.

David Perez

Director of Development, Arc Broward​

David Perez currently serves as Director of Development at Arc Broward, where he leads the organization's fundraising strategy, overseeing signature events and cultivating critical funding through grants, corporate sponsorships, and legislative partnerships. With more than 12 years of nonprofit leadership experience, he's known for driving strategic growth, strengthening community engagement, and advancing mission-driven impact. Before Arc Broward, Perez served as Chief Development and Divisional Officer at Broward Children's Center and spent nearly a decade as Director of Marketing and Community Relations for United Community Options of South Florida, where he led branding, outreach, and strategic partnerships across the region. His leadership has been widely recognized: he was named Young Professional of the Year in 2023 and Nonprofit Executive of the Year in 2024 by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and in 2025 was honored by Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick as a District 20 Angels in Adoption recipient and received the Game Changer Award from Women Empowering Women in Development. He's also a graduate of the Leadership North Broward Class of 2025. Perez stays deeply engaged in the community beyond his day job, serving on the Flamingo Gardens Food & Wine Host Committee, as Co-Chair of the Social Impact Council at St. Thomas University, and as a Board Member and Ambassador for the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He earned both his MBA and bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens. For Perez, all of this traces back to heritage and purpose, he sees his career, volunteer work, and leadership as ways to represent the values of hard work, resilience, and service that define the Hispanic community, and to create opportunities that let others take pride in both their culture and their contributions. A proud resident of Pompano Beach, he spends his time outside of work with his wife, their young son, and their newborn daughter.​

Julissa Rivera

Sr. Community Engagement Manager, The Miami Foundation​

Julissa is the Senior Community Engagement Manager at The Miami Foundation, where she connects residents, nonprofits, philanthropists, and community leaders to initiatives that strengthen Greater Miami. As Senior Community Engagement Manager at The Miami Foundation, she has dedicated her career to connecting people, ideas, and resources that create meaningful and lasting change. Her work empowers residents, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to collaborate on solutions that improve the quality of life for all who call Miami home. Simply put, she has built a career around helping Miami thrive. Through her work, she helps foster civic engagement, expand philanthropy, and build partnerships that create lasting community impact. A dedicated civic leader, Julissa recently completed her term as Chair of Leadership Miami, one of South Florida's premier leadership development programs, where she helped inspire and cultivate the next generation of community leaders. In recognition of her impact on the philanthropic sector, she was also honored with the Game Changer Award at PhilanthropyMiami's IGNITE Conference.​

Otayme Valenzuela

Director, Government Affairs & Advocacy, Hispanic Unity of Florida​

Otayme “Otto” Valenzuela is a respected advocate, community leader, and public policy professional dedicated to expanding opportunities for immigrant and Hispanic families. As Director of Government Affairs & Advocacy at Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF), Otto leads the organization’s advocacy strategy at the local, state, and federal levels. He champions policies that expand access to education, health care, economic mobility, and financial stability for underserved communities. Working closely with elected officials, government agencies, and community partners, he helps ensure that the voices and needs of working families are reflected in public policy decisions. Since joining HUF in 2020, Otto has steadily risen through the organization’s ranks, helping strengthen its influence and visibility as a leading voice on issues affecting immigrant families across South Florida. His work has focused on advancing civic engagement, promoting equitable access to public resources, and building partnerships that create lasting opportunities for families working toward economic self-sufficiency and stability. Before joining HUF, Otto worked at Americans for Immigrant Justice, where he coordinated legal services for vulnerable immigrant children and helped ensure their access to legal protections and due process. Prior to that, he served as a community liaison at the Consulate General of Guatemala in Miami and New York, connecting immigrants with critical legal, educational, health, and social services. Throughout his career, Otto has built relationships with government leaders, coalitions, and community stakeholders to connect grassroots concerns with policy solutions and create meaningful change for communitiesthroughout Florida and beyond. A first-generation graduate of The George Washington University, Otto earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Sociology and History. He combines public affairs and advocacy experience with a deep, firsthand understanding of the challenges facing immigrant communities. This perspective has made him a trusted voice among community leaders, policymakers, and advocates across Florida.Otto is the proud son of Guatemalan immigrants.​
