SUNRISE, Fla. --The Florida Panthers are in the hunt.
Going 5-0-1 over their last six games, the Panthers enter this week sitting just one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. They're also just three points behind the New York Islanders for the first wild card with three games in hand.

With 13 games left to play, players don't want to let his opportunity slip through their fingers.
"It's all about stringing together wins from now on," said forward Matthew Tkachuk. "I guess we're kind of scoreboard watching, but at the end of the day you have to take care of your own business first. Hopefully we can just keep doing it."
After wrapping up their seven-game homestand with a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, the Panthers will open this week with a back-to-back on the road. Following a tilt with the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, they'll travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers on Tuesday.
Heading home after that for two games at FLA Live Arena, the Panthers will host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday -- their first of three head-to-head matchups down the homestretch -- before closing out their busy week with a battle against the New York Rangers on Saturday.
"You're not going to win every game," head coach Paul Maurice said. "That can't be your standard, but you can play hard and play well. That's our standard in every game. We like where our game's at. We're playing hard and paying smart. We have four lines that can play."
To see what's going on this week and beyond for the Panthers, continue reading below.

THE GAMES

Monday: at Detroit Red Wings, 7 p.m. ET
Playing their first game outside of the Sunshine State since Feb. 18, the Panthers will kick off a back-to-back on the road with a battle against the Red Wings (30-29-9) at Little Caesars Arena on Monday. Detroit enters this week with losses in nine of its last 11 games, including a 5-1 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday. During that tough 11-game stretch, the Red Wings have averaged a league-worst 2.00 goals per game. Dylan Larkin leads Detroit in goals (25), assists (40) and points (65), while David Perron ranks second on the team in scoring with 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists). Making 50 appearances between the pipes this season, Ville Husso has posted a 25-18-6 record with a .901 save percentage and three shutouts. Looking at the season series in 2022-23, the Panthers have won each of their first two games against the Red Wings by a combined scored of 8-3. In this third and final matchup, it's a pretty safe bet that Matthew Tkachuk will make some magic happen for Florida. Leading the team in goals (32), assists (60) and points (92), the 25-year-old has logged 11 points over his last four contests.

Tuesday: at Philadelphia Flyers, 7 p.m. ET
Traveling to the City of Brotherly Love, the Panthers expect there to be no love lost when they face off against the Flyers (25-32-12) at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday. Coming out on top in just four games dating back to Feb. 1, Philadelphia enters this week with losses in 14 of its last 18 outings, including a 5-4 overtime loss at Carolina on Saturday. During that 18-game span, the Flyers have been outscored 67-38. Despite being out of the lineup since Feb. 20 due to an injury, Travis Konecny still leads Philadelphia in goals (27) and points (54). Not too far behind, Kevin Hayes ranks second in points (51) and first in assists (34). Carter Harter has handled the bulk of the work in net for the Flyers this season, going 18-21-10 with a .907 save percentage. For the Panthers, Sam Reinhart should be considered a threat to light the lamp in this tilt. Sitting third on the team with 26 goals, he's found the back of the net five times during his current four-game goal streak.

Thursday: vs. Toronto Maple Leafs, 7 p.m. ET
In the first of three head-to-head meetings left on the schedule, the Panthers will return home to host the Maple Leafs (42-18-9) at FLA Live Arena on Thursday. Occupying second place in the Atlantic Division, Toronto enters this week fresh off a 5-4 shootout win at Ottawa on Saturday. Losing back-to-back games just once since Jan. 17, the Maple Leafs have found success at both ends of the ice. They rank fifth in the NHL on defense (2.68 goals allowed per game) and ninth on offense (3.42 goals scored per game). Led by a three-headed monster up front, Toronto boasts three players with over 70 points: Mitch Marner (89), William Nylander (79) and reigning Hart Trophy winner Auston Matthews (70). In net, Ilya Samsonov has been the clear No. 1 for the Maple Leafs, posting a 24-8-3 record with .917 save percentage over 35 appearances. For the Panthers, look for Aleksander Barkov to rise to the occasion in this contest. In 29 career games against Toronto, the superstar captain has registered 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists).

Saturday: vs. New York Rangers, 5 p.m. ET
The Panthers will finally wrap up a jampacked week when they host the New York Rangers (41-19-10) at FLA Live Arena on Saturday. After loading up at the NHL Trade Deadline with the headline-making acquisitions of Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko, New York has won six of its last seven games while scoring at least five goals in three of those victories. Entering this week full of confidence, the Rangers beat the Penguins (6-0) and Predators (7-0) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Artemi Panarin leads New York in scoring with 80 points (23 goals, 57 assists), while Mika Zibanejad is second with 77 points, including a team-leading 37 goals. In net for the boys from the Big Apple, last year's Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin has gone 32-11-7 with a .912 save percentage. After dropping each of their two previous meetings with New York this season, look for Carter Verhaeghe to lead the charge for the Panthers on offense in this contest. Leading the team with a career-high 34 goals, he's already scored once against the Rangers in 2022-23.

PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT

Braden Haché has certainly looked comfortable in his new surroundings.
After being traded from Kingston to Barrie in January, the 19-year-old defenseman has produced 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 29 games with the Colts. Making an extremely positive impact -- literally -- he's also posted a plus/minus of +28 in that span.
Earning a point in six of his last 12 games, Haché, who has been spending time on Barrie's top pairing alongside Los Angeles Kings' 2021 first-round pick Brandt Clarke, netted his fourth goal of the season with a one-timer on the power play in a 5-2 win over Sudbury on March 11.
Originally selected by the Panthers in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Haché has set career-highs in goals (4), assists (15) and points (19) in 65 games split between Kingston and Barrie this season.
