Cats & Coffee: Informal Skates in Coral Springs; Single-Game Tickets

The Florida Panthers are wasting no time in getting back onto the ice.

With the 2018-19 season fast approaching, several skaters can already be found congregating at the Panthers IceDen, shaking off a summer of rust through a few hours of workouts and on-ice sessions almost every day at the team's official practice facility in Coral Springs.
Keith Yandle, Micheal Haley, Bogdan Kiselevich, Aaron Ekblad and Derek MacKenzie are just a few of the Panthers that have been participating in these informal skates, with more members of the team expected to continue trickling down to South Florida in the near future.
After falling just one point short of a playoff berth last season, MacKenzie, who is preparing for his third campaign as the club's captain, believes the Panthers are eager to pick up right where they left off last year, especially after ending the season on an incredible 25-8-2 run.
Given last season's finish, MacKenzie expects the Cats come out of the gate hot in October.
"It'll probably eliminate some of the excuses that we had in the first half of last season, like that we had new coaches and a few of the other things that we had gone through," MacKenzie told FloridaPanthers.com. "We're pretty much out of excuses. For me, it's just about keeping our fingers crossed and making sure everyone is healthy for Game 1."

ROOKIE SHOWCASE

After making his NHL debut with the Panthers last season, center Henrik Borgstrom was one of 26 prospects from around the league to be invited to the 2018 NHLPA Rookie Showcase this past weekend at the Master Card Centre in Toronto.
Now in its 10th year, the two-day showcase provides Upper Deck - the official trading card partner of the NHL and NHLPA, a chance to photograph, film and interact with some of the league's top up-and-coming talent. In addition to autographing cards and other memorabilia, prospects also pose for promotional materials that will be used throughout the upcoming season.
Borgstrom, the 23rd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, scored one goal in four games after leaving the University of Denver to sign with Florida late last season. He is considered one of the league's top forward prospects and was named the NCHC's Player of the Year last season.
In his final collegiate season, the 21-year-old center led the NCHC with 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) in 40 games. If you find a Borgstrom card this season, make sure to show it off and tag
