90s-Nick-Bjugstad-Featured

As the Florida Panthers celebrate their 25th Anniversary throughout the entire 2018-19 season, we here at FloridaPanthers.com thought it would be fun to also look back on the decade that welcomed the franchise with a a new recurring feature called "Back in the '90s!" From Nirvana to Nickelodeon, every new installment will allow one of your favorite players the chance to turn back the clock and share their favorite memories, movies and more from the 1990's.
This week's time traveler: Panthers forward Nick Bjugstad.

Q: How old were you when the Panthers first dropped the puck in 1993?
BJUGSTAD: I was just one year old… Wow!
Q: When you think of the '90s, what are the first things that come to mind?
BJUGSTAD:Saved by the Bell, of course. Then there were also those Zubaz pants with the lightning and crazy designs. Barney was big. I was also really into Power Rangers. Off the top of my head, that's what I've got right now.
Q: Who was your favorite hockey player in the '90s?
BJUGSTAD:Peter Forsberg. I grew up in Minnesota, but we didn't have the Wild until around 2000. I did have some family out in Colorado, though, so I became an Avs fan. It also helped that they had a pretty good squad, so I jumped right on the bandwagon. I had a Patrick] Roy jersey, posters and stuff like that all over my room.
**Q: What was your favorite band in the '90s?**
**BJUGSTAD:**Smash Mouth's "All-Star" was my favorite song when I was, like, eight years old. I remember that "Who Let the Dogs Out?" by Baha Men was my first CD, but I'm going to have to say Smash Mouth was my top '90s band back then.

Q: What was your favorite movie in the '90s?
BJUGSTAD:I would say The Goonies, but that's an '80s movie, right? It's hard to pick just one. There's so many of them. I guess I'm going to have to go with Home Alone. Wait… no! Actually, I'm going to have to pick The Lion King. I liked that a lot when I was a kid.
Q: What was your favorite TV show in the '90s?
BJUGSTAD: I didn't watch too much TV back then, but Rocket Power was awesome.

Q: Who was your celebrity crush in the '90s?
BJUGSTAD: Ren Stevens from Even Stevens on the Disney Channel.
Q: What was your favorite toy to play with in the '90s?
BJUGSTAD:There wasn't really just one. What I would do is gather all my toys together and make a big football game out of them. I really liked football back then, so I would just go in my room, make the lineups and go from there.
Q: What trend from the '90s do you wish would make a comeback?
BJUGSTAD: The pants! The Zubaz pants. I wish those would come back.
Q: What was your first screen name on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)?
BJUGSTAD:Ha. I can't tell you that! It's bad.
Q: Do you remember when you sent your first e-mail?
BJUGSTAD: I don't think I sent my first e-mail until college. It was to one of my professors.
Q: What comes to mind when you think of those early Panthers teams of the '90s?
BJUGSTAD:The Rat Trick from 1996, obviously. Brian Skrudland definitely also comes to mind. I can picture Billy Lindsay's goal in my head so easily. I didn't get to watch "The Goal" when I was a kid, but I've seen it a million times since then.
