Throughout the day, CAF members will be honoured and recognized in a variety of ways, beginning with the Oilers alumni and CAF participating in an exhibition hockey game at Rogers Place. That evening, the Edmonton Oilers will welcome Sergeant Brandy Alexander, a geomatics technician with the Canadian Army.
The Oilers players will be wearing special camouflage jerseys during warm-up that will be signed and made available for auction with proceeds going to the Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC). The MFRC supports military families as they navigate the unique challenges of military life through programs and services that enhance their strength and resilience. The camouflage jerseys will be available for auction online through the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation's Locker Room sale following the Oilers season (date and details to be announced). In addition, the Oilers will wear yellow decals on their game helmets in support of Support Our Troops, a platform established to show care, compassion and support to serving members, veterans and families of the Canadian Armed Forces.
"The Edmonton Oilers are proud to continue the tradition of honouring the service and bravery of our men and women in uniform through the Canadian Armed Forces Celebration Night," said Oilers Entertainment Group CEO Bob Nicholson. "No one exemplifies the importance of courage, integrity and loyalty quite like members of the CAF, all values we are proud to align with."
The Edmonton Oilers look forward to hosting members of the Canadian Armed Forces at Rogers Place and would like to thank our partners Tim Hortons and Cenovus Energy for being a part of this incredible evening.
