RELEASE: Oilers fans display generosity with record-setting 50/50

EDMONTON, AB - The new Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation online 50/50 raffle presented by RE/MAX has been an overwhelming success, thanks to the generosity and passion of Oilers fans across Alberta.

Oilers fans across Alberta took the 50/50 program to a new level, establishing a record-setting jackpot of $3,259,445 on Monday, Aug. 4, with a prize amount of $1,629,722.50 to the winner.

The EOCF is committed to reinvesting the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle back into the community. The Foundation invests in youth hockey programming, focusing on under-represented groups to increase participation, as well as programs aimed at those most vulnerable in our community, in particular in Edmonton's downtown core.

"We are grateful to Oilers fans across the province for their amazing generosity in supporting the RE/MAX online 50/50 program," said Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Executive Director Natalie Minckler. "Funds generated will go to programs that support those in our community who have been most hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is truly a win-win for everyone."

The EOCF thanks fans for their patience and continues to work with the online 50/50 technology provider to address some of the capacity issues that arose due to the volumes experienced during the first two raffles.

Online 50/50 raffle tickets are available for purchase at EdmontonOilers.com/5050, beginning at 9:00 AM MST on Oilers game days. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early to ensure they have an opportunity to participate.
