EDMONTON, AB - Emily Cave, the Cave Family, the Gill Family, and the Oilers organization will host a Celebration of Life for Oilers forward Colby Cave, who passed away suddenly and tragically last April.
The Celebration of Life will be hosted at Rogers Place on Saturday, April 10 at 11:00 AM MT and will be streamed live on EdmontonOilers.com as well Oilers social media channels.

Proceeds from the fund will go toward community programs with an emphasis on mental health initiatives and providing access to sports for underprivileged children. The Edmonton Oilers 2nd Shift program introduced in 2019 will be rebranded to Colby's Kids to honour the memory and legacy of Cave by providing opportunities for underrepresented youth to participate in the game of hockey.
Colby's Kids will also partner with CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health off the ice in support of mental health initiatives. CASA is a major community-based provider of mental health and addiction services for infants, children, adolescents and their families in Edmonton and Central and Northern Alberta. CASA provides assessment and treatment services for approximately 4,000 infants, children and adolescents from birth to age 18 each year.
"It is an incredible honour to have established Colby's Kids with the Oilers," said Emily Cave. "Our partnership with CASA and the rebrand of the 2nd Shift program mean more than words could ever describe. We couldn't have picked a better fit for two things that were incredibly special to Colb and myself - bringing awareness and support to mental health initiatives and helping underrepresented children. I know this is something that Colb would love and be really proud of. I'm looking forward to helping children and their families through many special projects at CASA. The hockey community is a special family and being able to provide underrepresented children and their families the ability to be apart of it is incredibly special. I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who has supported me and donated to Colb's memorial fund this past year. Thank you for helping me continue my husband's legacy."
The Cave and Gill families wish to thank everyone for their outpouring of support over the past year and invite the public to join the virtual celebration to honour Colby. Links to the Celebration of Life live stream will be shared with the public on the morning of April 10.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation will also host a specialty night of the RE/MAX online 50/50 raffle to honour the legacy of Colby Cave. The Colby Cave specialty night will take place during a home game in April and net proceeds generated will benefit the Colby Cave Memorial Fund with further details soon to be announced.
