Oilers to persevere through difficult phase

Four games into the Oilers eight-game home stand, the team has captured three out of eight possible points. Playing hosts hasn't gone as planned so far for the squad, but the club is looking to break out of their current lull.
"I think that every team goes through a phase like that," said Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl.

When the team struggled in spurts earlier in the season, they found ways to dig themselves out. Having that experience can help.
"We had our phase this year already and we battled through it."
Rather than closely watching their Pacific Division counterparts, the Oilers are steadfast in worrying about their own situation.
"It's more important that we worry about ourselves more than the other teams," said Draisaitl. "It's about us, it's in this group and we're more than capable of getting out of it and banking some points here coming up."
Draisaitl thinks one way they can make a change is by taking advantage of their scoring opportunities.
"Capitalizing on our chances," he said. "If we put one in (against Montreal), that's a 2-0 game. I know our goalie is good enough to close that out - the whole team is. Last night was a really frustrating game for all of us. Today's another day and tomorrow's another game so we have to make sure we're ready."
The Oilers have a chance to right the ship Tuesday versus the Dallas Stars. Edmonton won the previous meeting against Dallas 5-2 with Connor McDavid's first career hat trick propelling them to victory.
