Connor McDavid's speed on the ice is well known around the League, and the Tampa Bay Lightning are very aware of it.

"He's really, really good. That's about all I can say," said Tampa Bay Head Coach Jon Cooper, who was an assistant on Team North America's staff at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, where McDavid was team captain.
"I've never coached Sidney Crosby, but I would sit here and say he was probably the best accelerator through the puck I've seen until Connor McDavid and now they're both (even)," said Cooper. "I can't sit here and say one is faster than the other, but for guys to be able to go into an extra gear with the puck is real hard to do and they're the best at it. Connor is the guy that's at Crosby's level with that."
When it comes to playing against McDavid, there's one thing you can do.
"Just ask him nicely to slow down," joked Tampa Bay forward Brian Boyle.
"It's pretty impressive to watch really. His hands and feet do it at that rate of speed. Sometimes it's one or the other, it's not always both and it's impressive."
