Adam Larsson spoke following Thursday's optional practice in Glendale, Arizona about several aspects of the Oilers blueline 21 games into the year.
Specficially, Larsson was asked about how the return of Kris Russell really helped the team get out of its five-game slide and turn it into what is now a three-game winning streak.
"Him and Reggie (Sekera) together stabilized the back-end. You can see such a calm demeanour out there and it affects us, too," Larsson said, adding that he's seen an overall improvement defensively over the last three games. "I thought the whole group has taken steps in the right direction defensively. Even the forwards are helping out really good, now."
Larsson was also asked about how he personally feels 21 games in with a new organization.
"It's been good. Great teammates, great organization. System wise, wasn't too big of a difference. It's been a pretty easy adjustment. The new guys in the locker room and all that but so far it's been good."
Oscar Klefbom has shown some offensive flair as of late with three goals in a recent three-game stretch. Larsson talked about wanting Klefbom to take more chances offensively.
"I try to help him every day, too. I know he was out for a long time but you can see he has more confidence offensively. That's where I want him to be, too. I want him to be offensive and I can cover up for him if I have to. We've helped each other out pretty good and you can see now that he's started scoring and gained some confidence."
