Oilers winger Pat Maroon believes communication and being vocal on the ice will be key to relieving some of the shortcomings the Oilers have had recently.
"There's some things we need to clean up on and talking's one of them," he said. "Our D-zone hasn't been that strong, we've been losing games there (with) mental mistakes and it just all comes from talking. I think that's where it started today: everybody just trying to be vocal, do things the right way and talk."
The Oilers are still very much in the mix of things, currently sitting third in the Pacific Division, a single point back of the first-place San Jose Sharks.
"We're in a great situation right now, there's no reason to get down on ourselves," said Maroon. "We know we're a good hockey team (and) we've shown it. We beat good hockey clubs. For us, we just got to play the right way, find ways to beat Arizona, to beat conference teams."
The team will look to snap a short three-game losing skid Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre.
