EDMONTON, AB - Raphael Lavoie is lighting the lamp at an impressive pace in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan, adding two more tallies to his total on Wednesday.
The Oilers forward prospect scored both of Vasby's goals in a 5-2 defeat to MODO, giving him eight markers in 13 games as he makes the most of his loan from the NHL club.
Just 1:15 into the opening period, the winger received a pass in the neutral zone and darted through a pair of MODO defenders before sweeping down the left side of the attacking zone, cutting hard to the net and sliding a five-hole shot past the goalie. Then, with just 15 seconds left in the middle frame, he sniped a wrist shot through a screen on the power play.
Lavoie, whom Edmonton drafted 38th overall in 2019, also has a pair of assists to give him 10 points on the season. The loan to Sweden is his first taste of professional hockey after he split the 2019-20 campaign with Halifax and Chicoutimi of the QMJHL, while also winning a gold medal with Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
