EDMONTON, AB - Athleticism is in J.D. Dudek's blood.
The Boston College forward revealed as much on Day 3 of Oilers Development Camp, explaining his family's athletic lineage.
"Both my parents were really good athletes and I ended up picking a different sport (than them)," Dudek, who identifies as 'J.D.' because his mother's name is Jodi and father's is Joe, started.
"My dad played professional football for the Denver Broncos and my mom actually made the Olympic team for field hockey but couldn't participate because of knee injuries."
Joe Dudek was a star college running back for Plymouth State many years ago. He was one of the best players in the 1985 college season, finishing ninth in Heisman Trophy voting, and getting some love from Sports Illustrated by being featured on the cover of one of their issues that year.
Joe played two National Football League games with the Denver Broncos in 1987, amassing 154 career rushing yards and two touchdowns on 35 touches.
