Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli expressed his trust in backup netminder Laurent Brossoit on Wednesday after the NHL Trade Deadline.

"We decided we were going to go with the goalies that we have," Chiarelli said. "Part of our overriding philosophy here is we wanted to give these guys a chance, the guys that got us here. That includes LB (Brossoit). We feel that his practices have been getting better. We feel that the effort and his performance in his games have been good. We're confident in him spelling Cam (Talbot), and he's going to have to spell Cam."
Brossoit tried not to pay too much attention to the Trade Deadline but is excited and motivated by the faith in him.
"To hear the general manager say that about you and that they have confidence in me and have noticed the hard work that I've been putting in at practice and all that is definitely a nice feeling," Brossoit said.
Not only is he happy to have made the team but the netminder is determined to contribute.
"I'm very motivated," he said. "I'm not just satisfied making the team and being a part of it, I want to contribute. I want to work hard and get better and better as I go along."
