WASHINGTON, DC - With the Oilers victory in Detroit, the team improved their winning streak on the road to five games.

After arriving in Washington late into Saturday night, the team held a light and fun practice at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Sunday morning.

"The guys are excited to come to the rink," said Oilers forward Ty Rattie following Sunday's practice. "We're having fun but we're working hard as well. It's a good combination of both right now.

"It's a good feeling coming to the rink when you're putting in the work and getting the results you want to see. We've been doing a good job so far, but it's a long year. We need to keep progressing and keep getting better every day."

Since starting the season 0-2-0, the Oilers have put together an 8-2-1 record in their past 11 games, propelling the team to third place in the Pacific Division.

"We all have the right mindset going forward," said forward Zack Kassian. "We know it's early in the year, so we're not going to get complacent. We know it's a long season and we're happy with the way we've been playing.

We just have to continue that."

The Oilers square off against the defending Stanley Cup champions Washington Capitals on Monday night.
