BLOG: Oilers sign Tomas Jurco to one-year contract

Jurco registered 27 points (12G, 15A) in 33 AHL games with the Springfield Thunderbirds and Charlotte Checkers last season, helping Charlotte win the Calder Cup

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed unrestricted free agent forward Tomas Jurco to a one-year contract.

Jurco, 26, played 33 games in the American Hockey League with the Springfield Thunderbirds and Charlotte Checkers last season, registering 27 points (12G, 15A).

Jurco also added 18 points (7G, 11A) in 18 games in the AHL Playoffs, winning the Calder Cup with the Checkers in June. 

The forward holds a connection to Oilers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Ken Holland after being drafted in the second round, 35th overall during the 2011 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings when Holland was with the organization.
