BLOG: Oilers need Strome's offensive contributions

As the Oilers search for more offence, Ryan Strome is someone to look for more from

EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers buried five even-strength goals against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. Second-line centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins got two of them.

Ryan Strome has been playing on the wing with Nugent-Hopkins and Milan Lucic, a spot he wouldn't mind sticking with.

"Nuge is so calm in the middle, he's so poised, Looch is a big body," said Strome. "For me, it's about just making my plays, finding those little holes in the ice. Obviously, last night we had a little success and just kind of keep that going. I think on the road trip we had some good scoring chances we couldn't quite finish. Just continue to find that chemistry."

If that line stays the same, Strome will continue to be expected to contribute more offensively. He was +3 on Thursday night, notching an assist on Connor McDavid's goal as he left the penalty box.

"We need him to contribute on the offensive side of it," said McLellan. "He's actually been pretty good defensively, but the offensive side of it is actually what we brought him here for. He's got a tremendous shot, he's got some vision and very good hands. You put all that together and there has to be some production from that line."
