EDMONTON, AB - The best players on the planet squared off in September 2016 for the reincarnation of the World Cup of Hockey, with Oilers stars Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl competing.

Sportsnet will be broadcasting select games from the memorable tournament this week, starting Monday night with Team North America (Canadian and American players aged 23 or younger) taking on Team Europe (European players not representing Sweden, Finland, Russia or Czech Republic).

McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins were selected for the 23-and-under all-continent team, while Draisaitl was the youngest player chosen for Team Europe's roster at just 20 years old. He was one of six Germans on the team coached by former Oilers bench boss Ralph Krueger, while Edmonton's head coach at the time, Todd McLellan, commanded Team North America.

Games to be shown on Sportsnet this week involving Oilers players are listed below (all times Mountain) including the best-of-three championship series between Canada and underdog Europe coming up on Saturday.

Draisaitl was integral to Europe's success at the tournament, scoring two key goals in the preliminary round to help his team finish second in Group A and secure a semifinal berth. He lit the lamp in their 3-0 win over Team USA and then scored the dramatic OT winner in a 3-2 victory over the Czechs.

McDavid (three assists) and Nugent-Hopkins (one goal, two assists) had strong showings as well for Team North America, who narrowly missed out on a semifinal spot after they tied Russia for second place in Group B but didn't advance to the final four as a result of dropping the prelminary round matchup between the deadlocked squads.
