The Edmonton Oilers are one point behind the Calgary Flames for third place in the Pacific Division and two points behind the second-place Anaheim Ducks. Edmonton holds the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference will play the seventh game of a season-long eight-game homestand, on which the Oilers are 3-2-1. Edmonton has scored 14 goals in consecutive victories against the Dallas Stars (7-1 on Tuesday) and Boston Bruins (7-4 on Thursday). "We want to play a solid game," Defenseman Oscar Klefbom said. "A 7-4 game is a lot of goals; I would prefer 4-1 or 3-0 instead. Obviously, it's fun to watch a game in here at Rogers [Place] when there are a lot of goals, but every game is so crucial right now, every point is so important, and I want to see our team play a very solid game right now, like a playoff game." Edmonton lost 3-2 in a shootout against the Canucks on Jan. 31 and won 2-0 at Vancouver on Oct. 28. "Every team is dangerous in the NHL, any team can win on a nightly basis and if you don't show up, you're going to lose," forward Zack Kassian said. "They have a lot of veteran guys over there that I know aren't going to pack it in and we need to be ready, we're fighting for playoff lives too, for positioning and to get into the playoffs. Every game from here on out is important for our team." Center Connor McDavid has 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in his past 15 games and is tied with forward Brad Marchand of the Bruins for the NHL scoring lead with 79 points.
