Biega was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (No. 147) in the 2006 NHL Draft. He attended Harvard University, where he had 70 points (15 goals, 55 assists) in 131 games and was named captain in 2009-10, his senior season.
Biega played with Portland of the American Hockey League in 2010-11, his first professional season, and had 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 61 games, finishing the season fourth among AHL rookies with a plus-18 rating.

He spent the next two seasons with Rochester of the AHL, and in 2012-13 he finished third among defenseman on the team in assists (20) and points (25).
On July 5, 2013, Biega signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks and was assigned to Utica of the AHL. He played most of the next two seasons with Utica before he was called up by the Canucks and made his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 16, 2015, scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory.
Biega had one goal in seven games for Vancouver before he was sent back down to Utica, where he finished the season with 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) in 62 games.
In 2015-16, Biega appeared in 51 games for the Canucks and had seven points, all assists. He signed a two-year, one-way contract with Vancouver on Feb. 2, 2016. During the next two seasons, Biega played in 80 games for the Canucks and had 12 points (one goal, 11 assists). He finished tied for fourth on the team in hits (126) in 2017-18 despite appearing in 44 games.
The Canucks signed Biega to a two-year contract extension on Feb. 28, 2018.
