An early-season injury to Logan Couture in 2015-16 resulted in a nine-game stint with the Sharks for Goldobin. In his second NHL game, on Oct. 17, 2015, Goldobin beat Jaroslav Halak of the New York Islanders for his first NHL goal.
The Sharks signed Goldobin in 2014 and assigned him to HIFK Helsinki of Liiga, Finland's top league, where he played 38 games and had 11 goals and 21 points during the 2014-15 season. He also had six points in eight playoff games. Goldobin made his AHL debut with Worcester that season and had five points in nine games.
Before that, Goldobin had two productive seasons with Sarnia of the Ontario Hockey League. In 2012-13, he led OHL rookies with 30 goals and 68 points and was the runner-up to future NHL No. 1 draft pick Connor McDavid in voting for the Emms Family Award, which goes to the league's top rookie. The following season Goldobin finished seventh in the OHL in scoring with 94 points in 67 games.
Goldobin helped Russia to the silver medal at the 2015 World Junior Championship, finishing with three assists and five points - both good for third on the team -- in seven games. Goldobin also played for Russia in the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, getting a goal and three points in four games at the Under-18 tournament.
