The Predators had already revealed their adidas Reverse Retro jerseys back in November, but the new look became official when the team sported the fresh threads on the ice Monday night in Nashville.
The consensus? They looked even better under the Bridgestone Arena lights.

A process years in the making
culminated with Nashville's 12th jersey in franchise history, a look that combines a dose of nostalgia with a modern flair. The entire ensemble included navy helmets as well, a color that hadn't been seen up top for the Predators since the 2015-16 season.
In fact, the buckets had some feeling like kids again.
"It was pretty funny in practice with the blue helmets, it kind of takes you back to when we used to wear blue helmets," Preds Captain Roman Josi said. "You look at guys like fellow defensemen Ryan Ellis or Mattias Ekholm] who've been here with the blue helmets, and we're all saying we all look younger because we were all wearing them when we were a little bit younger… But I love our Reverse Retro jerseys, they're pretty cool."
The Preds will wear the Reverse Retro jerseys five more times this season, and you can get yours right now at

Preds wear Reverse Retro jerseys for first time

Ekholms Welcome Baby Girl:

Mattias Ekholm was absent from the Nashville lineup Monday night, but he had a good reason for it.
The Predators defenseman, his wife, Ida, and son, William, welcomed a new member to their family, a baby girl named Mya. Preds General Manager David Poile confirmed the news during an interview Tuesday on ESPN 102.5 The Game, and Ida shared a photo on her Instagram feed on Wednesday morning, saying in part, "No words can describe our happiness and gratefulness."
The Ekholms join the list of Preds families to recently add another member - forward Matt Duchene and goaltender Pekka Rinne have also become fathers in the past few months, with the Duchenes welcoming their second child late last year, and Captain Roman Josi, as well as forwards Calle Jarnkrok and Viktor Arvidsson will all join the club soon, Jarnkrok for the second time too.

Rinne Makes Fan's Night:

Interactions between players and fans during warmups are one of the things that make hockey unique - especially when a souvenir is part of the deal.
Unfortunately, in these times, those moments have been limited due to COVID protocols in NHL buildings that prohibit fans from getting too close to the glass while in the building. However, on Tuesday night in Nashville, Pekka Rinne still did his best to give one fan an experience she'll never forget.
The Predators goaltender had noticed a fan holding a sign written in Finnish, Rinne's native language, presumably asking the netminder for a puck. In upholding his standing as one of the nicest people on the planet, Rinne decided to oblige.
As the warmup session came to an end inside Bridgestone Arena, Rinne, in full pads on the ice, picked up a puck and hurled it over the protective netting in the endzone approximately 15 rows up into the crowd to the fan, who then proceeded to jump up and down with elation.
Rinne has likely given out hundreds of pucks and sticks over the course of his career, and so while it may have been just another moment in time for the goalie, it shows what a small gesture can mean to someone else.
Perhaps we should all try to be just a bit more like Peks.

Chicago Wolves Update:

With the Milwaukee Admirals electing to sit out the 2020-21 season in the AHL, the Predators are utilizing an agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Chicago Wolves to serve as Nashville's AHL affiliate this season.
Predators prospects Cole Smith, Tanner Jeannot, Rem Pitlick, Tommy Novak, Tyler Lewington, Jeremy Davies, Lukas Craggs, Patrick Harper, Alexandre Carrier and Philip Tomasino are currently on the Chicago roster, and some have already made an impact.
The 2020-21 AHL campaign has now gotten underway, and the Wolves are off to the hot start. The club is undefeated in their first three games of the season, including a 5-2 win over Rockford on Tuesday.

Tomasino scored his first two professional goals in that win, and the 19-year-old forward leads the Wolves in scoring with five points (2g-3a) in three games. Pitlick has three goals for the Wolves thus far, while Jeannot and Novak each have one goal and two assists through three games.

Quote of the Week:

Preds defenseman, and newcomer, Matt Benning on playing with goaltender Pekka Rinne:
"He's the true definition of a professional. He takes care of himself on and off the ice, and he's a good human. Those are the type of guys that you want to have back there, and the D-corps and forwards have full trust in him. He has the experience, and he knows what he's doing… He's a leader in the room for us and a guy we lean on."
