Flyers team scope

Goalie Michal Neuvirth will start for the Philadelphia Flyers. Neuvirth relieved starter Steve Mason at the start of the second period after the Penguins scored three goals in a 55-second span late in the first of a 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, when the Flyers could not hold a two-goal lead. "Fifty-plus minutes where you'd say it's a blueprint of how you want our team to play," coach Dave Hakstol said. "We don't have to change anything. We have to tighten up a couple of things." Forward Jakub Voracek scored twice, including a second-period penalty shot that tied the game 4-4. Claude Giroux scored his first goal of the season to go along with nine assists. The Flyers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 in Philadelphia on Oct. 22.

Hurricanes team scope

Goalie Cam Ward will make his third straight for the Hurricanes, who are coming off a 3-2 home win against the New York Rangers on Friday. Forward Jeff Skinner had two goals and assisted on Bryan Bickell's game-winner. Skinner has 21 career multi-goal games. He is the youngest active player in the NHL with 20 or more such games, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Skinner, 24, and 23-year-old linemate Victor Rask are tied for the Hurricanes lead in points with nine. "[Rask] is very responsible defensively so you can play him against anybody in the League, and his skill is starting to show," coach Bill Peters said Saturday. "He's a young player doing what young players are supposed to do: get more comfortable as he goes along."
