Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will not play because of an undisclosed injury sustained in the final minute of a 6-4 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. Green limped off the ice after a hit by Ducks forward Ryan Kesler. "I don't see him playing today or tomorrow, probably not on this trip," said coach Jeff Blashill, whose team is starting a three-game road trip. "It's going to be an ongoing thing we will continue to evaluate." Defenseman Nick Jensen was called up from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. The fourth-year pro has a goal and five assists in 27 games for the Griffins this season. Defenseman Brian Lashoff is a game-time decision after he was injured during the morning skate. "It was a puck to the mouth. It was fairly severe," Blashill said. "But we called Nick Jensen up for a reason." If Lashoff can't go, Jensen will be make his NHL debut. "Nick's a big-time competitor and an excellent skater," Blashill said. Goalie Jimmy Howard will start for the Red Wings.

"Michael will be there, but he's sick," coach Bill Peters said. "We sent him home. He sat by himself at breakfast. We said, 'Finish your meal, then beat it.'" Eddie Lack, who has missed 14 games because of a concussion, took part in the morning skate and will be evaluated prior to faceoff, though Peters said he had no idea if he would be cleared to play.
