Dallas leads best-of-7 series, 1-0

Robin Lehner could start in goal for the Vegas Golden Knights against the Dallas Stars in Game 2 when they seek to even the Western Conference Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Tuesday.
Lehner, who backed up Marc-Andre Fleury in a 1-0 loss in Game 1, last played against the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the second round Sept. 4, when he made 14 saves in a 3-0 shutout. Lehner is 8-4-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage and three shutouts in 12 postseason games.
The Stars, who scored on their first shot in Game 1, a goal by defenseman John Klingberg 2:36 into the first period, are expecting a bigger push from the Golden Knights.
"It's just focusing on that new day, especially when you get to the conference final," forward Tyler Seguin said Tuesday. "It's a whole new ball game right now."
Teams with a 2-0 lead are 329-51 (86.6 percent) winning a best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series, including 5-0 in the first two rounds.
Here are 3 keys for Game 2:

1. Golden Knights seek offense

Vegas has scored four goals in its past four games, including two empty-net goals. It scored one goal against Vancouver goalie Thatcher Demko in a 2-1 loss in Game 5, was shut out 4-0 in Game 6, and beat Demko once in Game 7.
"It's on us to find a way, and there's no excuse for us," Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault said. "I think with the group we have, we have to find a way to find the back of the net here. … It's a matter of time that we just unleash the offense we have in us. I'm not too worried about it."

2. Can Stars duplicate Game 1 plan?

Dallas held Vegas to 12 shots on goal and 20 shot attempts through the second period in Game 1 but was outshot 13-2 in the third.
"We expect them to be coming out a lot harder tonight," Seguin said. "They know how we play now after one game. It's going to be a whole new game, so looking forward to the opportunity."

3. Reaves factor

Ryan Reaves will return to the Golden Knights lineup after the forward was suspended for Game 1 for an illegal check to the head of Canucks forward Tyler Motte during Game 7 of the second round. Reaves ranks third in the NHL in the postseason with 74 hits and will add more physicality to the lineup.
"I think Ryan brings a lot to our team, a lot of energy, a lot of juice for us," defenseman Brayden McNabb said Monday. "Obviously, he's physical, and they're a heavier team. So having him back in the lineup is going to be a huge bonus for us and a lot more energy coming from him. If you can get in on the forecheck, get some hits, it's big momentum for our team."

Status report

Cousins, a forward who has played 15 of the Golden Knights' 16 postseason games, likely will be scratched for Reaves. … Stars coach Rick Bowness didn't address any possible lineup changes from Game 1. "I'm one of those coaches that likes to win, and we're going to put the best lineup that we can to give us that look tonight," he said.
