Martinook was removed from NHL COVID-19 protocol Wednesday, but the forward did not travel with the team due to Canada's border restrictions. … Bear will play his first game since Jan. 13 after being scratched the past five games. … Senators coach D.J. Smith said Batherson, a forward, will be out "a couple months for sure, maybe longer" with a high ankle sprain. … Connor Brown, a forward, resumed skating with the team Tuesday. Smith said Brown and Zaitsev, a defenseman, each could play shortly after 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, which is scheduled for Feb. 4-5. … Gambrell, a forward, will miss "the next couple games, for sure," Smith said. … Holden signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract Tuesday. He could have been an unrestricted free agent after the season.
