The Bruins defeated the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Tuesday.
Along with attempting to establish a better home record (Boston is 14-16-3 here), the Bruins are trying to forge chemistry after the addition of forward Lee Stempniak in a trade with the New Jersey Devils before the NHL Trade Deadline on Monday.
Stempniak, who had 16 goals and 41 points in 63 games for the Devils, made his Bruins debut Tuesday on a line with Patrice Bergeron (Bruins-high 54 points) and Brad Marchand (third on the Bruins with 48 points).
That line didn't have a point 5-on-5 against the Flames but its SAT For was around 60 percent, according to war-on-ice.com.
"I think the only thing that we can ask him to do is continue to play his game," Marchand said. "He's been having a great year, he's a great player. We'll find each other, how each other works eventually. It's something we're going to have to work on. ... He plays a very similar style to us. He's great with the puck, he knows how to make plays, he knows where to be on the ice, he knows how to read plays, so we just want him to play his game and we'll do the same and we'll work it out."
Stempniak's addition allowed coach Claude Julien to move Brett Connolly to the fourth line, which produced a goal by Landon Ferraro against the Flames.
"When you've got Brett playing where he is right now, that's a pretty good situation to be in as a hockey club. So it's about having the right players play with the right players," Julien said.
The Western Conference-leading Blackhawks, who have won two in a row after defeating the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 on Wednesday, did not hold a morning skate.
