THE QUICK HITS:
Last Time Out:Despite allowing the first goal of the night, the Canes responded with four unanswered to take a 4-1 victory over Columbus Wednesday in their regular season opener. Martin Necas led the way with three points and Frederik Andersen backstopped the team with 31 stops.
Burnzie's Return:Defenseman Brent Burns will play his first game on the road for the Canes in a very familiar building. The 2016-17 Norris Trophy-winning defenseman played 798 games over the course of 11 seasons in the Bay Area and now comes back for the first time since being dealt in July. Carolina's new #8 made his presence felt during his new club's victory to start the year, playing 22:33 and leading the team with six shots on goal.
Bounce Back Marty:
After leading the team with six points in three games during preseason play, forward Martin Necas has carried his hot streak into the games that count. With one goal and two assists in the effort, he matches the number of three-point outputs he had during the 2021-22 season.

Strong Sophomore Start:After recording 17 goals in 68 games during his rookie campaign, Seth Jarvis opened the scoring this season for the Canes on Wednesday. Playing alongside Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen, as well as playing a prominent role on the first power play unit, #24 remains a player to watch as he begins his second season in the National Hockey League.
On The Other Side:The Sharks mustered just three goals in two games against Nashville as they started their season overseas. As a part of the NHL's Global Series the two teams played games in Czechia, with the Predators taking both.

What Are We Wearing?:The Canes will be wearing their white uniforms tonight.
AFTER TODAY:
The Canes will travel to Seattle post-game. They are expected to practice on Sunday and then take on the Kraken Monday night at 10 p.m. EST.
