The Series So Far...

  • Game 1: Seth Jarvis struck in the first minute, but the Canadiens roared back with four first-period goals and cruised to a 6-2 victory.
  • Game 2Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice, including the overtime winner, to give his team a 3-2 win and even the series.

Hitting The Road...

  • After suffering their first loss of the postseason in their own building, the Canes now arrive in Quebec looking to continue their flawless track record on the road this postseason. Winning all four outings in Ottawa and Philadelphia thus far, the team allowed a total of six goals in the quartet of games.
  • As for the other half of the equation, Montreal has not been exceptional in its own barn. Going 2-4 in six games against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres, the Habs have allowed an average of 3.17 goals at Bell Centre — the highest among all remaining clubs.

In Net...

  • Frederik Andersen had a light night on Saturday, but was strong enough to get back in the win column. Facing just 12 shots, he made 10 saves in a little over 63 minutes of work, improving to 9-1 this postseason. It is expected he'll get the net again this evening.
  • Brandon Bussi would be the next expected option in the event Andersen needs a break. The first-year backstop wrapped up the regular season on a heater, following up his first set of consecutive losses (0-3-0) with a 6-0-1 run and allowing two or fewer goals in four of those wins.
  • Pyotr Kochetkov also remains waiting in the wings. Although he made two conditioning loan starts with Chicago (AHL) following multiple lower-body surgeries this winter, his last NHL action came on Dec. 20.

On The Other Side...

  • Montreal exploited acres of space in Game 1, but found itself stifled throughout much of Game 2. Still, the Habs managed to score twice on just 12 shots, showcasing the team's ever-potent offensive ability despite Carolina controlling play.
  • Speaking to the media postgame, Head Coach Martin St. Louis indicated that he was mostly pleased with his team's performance: "I thought our execution was not as good [as Game 1], but it wasn't terrible. Overall, I thought it was a battle out there. I thought we competed. It's a close game, it's a fine line between winning and losing."
  • Josh Anderson had both Montreal goals in Game 2, climbing to T-3rd on his team with five goals this postseason. Only Alex Newhook (7) and Juraj Slafkovsky (6) have more. with two of Slafkovsky's coming in Game 1.

Injury Updates...

  • The Canes currently do not have any injuries at this time.
