Tracking The Storylines
Getting Back On Track:For the first time this season the Canes go into a contest having come up with zero points in their two most recent contests. There are a few areas where the team has obvious room for improvement, however, a few stars are aligning for them to get back to their winning ways tonight.Ottawa comes to town after playing against a hungry and desperate Vancouver Canucks less than 24 hours ago.
Special Teams Shuffle:One of the areas of which the Canes will have to improve on is the power play. Entering tonight they're zero for their last 17 on the power play dating back to two weeks ago today in Anaheim. Due to Brett Pesce and Tony DeAngelo being in the COVID-19 Protocol, the team's personnel continues to change, including the trial of a five forward unit Tuesday night in Dallas.
Getting Reacquanited:This is the first meeting between the Canes and Sens since November 11, 2019. It'll also contain a little extra zest for newly recalled Canes defensemen Max Lajoie, who was drafted and came up through the Ottawa organization. After spending his first three years with the organization, the 24-year-old has now been presented with an opportunity to make an impact in the Carolina lineup.
