The Carolina Hurricanes are back on the ice and so is the Hurricanes Homegrown Series, the fifth game of which happens Friday when the Canes host the Colorado Avalanche to open a five-game homestand.
New this season, the
Hurricanes Homegrown Series
features eight games that showcase some of the best that our local community has to offer in clothing, beer, food, art and music.
Heading to PNC Arena for Friday night hockey with the Canes? Here's an in-depth look at each Homegrown aspect.

Clothing

PorchFly021717_NEW

This "Mountains to the Coast" Hurricanes t-shirt was designed and produced by Porch Fly. When doors open at 6 p.m., 144 of these shirts will be available at The Eye's main location (south end of PNC Arena adjacent to the box office) for $30. Each shirt is marked by a unique printed tag that denotes the game, the shirt series and the overall quantity printed, and there is a limit of two shirts per person per purchase.
Each of the first four Homegrown Series shirts sold out before puck drop, so be sure to snag yours early!

Flights, featuring four six-ounce pours, of Aviator Brewing Co.'s beer will be available at section 337. You can select any combinations of the brews they offer, and the flights are priced at $11.
Food

homegrown_burger

The featured in-house, signature food item: the State Fair burger, which is a cheeseburger with bacon in between two maple glazed donuts. Yes, you read that correctly: burger, cheese, bacon, donuts. It packs the classic State Fair punch you'd expect, and it's paired with a side of sweet potato fries. You can grab this delectable meal for $15 from the Fire It Up concession stand at section 301.
Art

This poster, designed by local artist Skillet Gilmore, will be available free to the first 1,000 fans. Swing by section 108 to pick one up and chat with the artist, as well.
Music
Christiane, a local acoustic singer/songwriter, will perform live during the first and second intermissions.
