LINEUP NOTES AND PETERS QUOTES
5:15 p.m.
On the second half of a back-to-back, the Hurricanes will make some lineup changes, as expected. Cam Ward will get the start in net, and Josh Jooris will draw in for Phil Di Giuseppe. We'll report the lines from warm-ups shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Here's more from the Canes' bench boss.
On last night's result in New York: "Our level of play needs to be reached for us to get two points. We weren't at our level of play for 60 minutes with all 18 guys that are dressed and playing. The nights that we don't have everybody committed to doing it right, that's kind of what it looks like."
On one-goal games: "We don't have much room for error. When it's a 2-1 game, both goals are probably preventable. That's the reality. You need to wrap your head around the fact that you might have to win a 1-0 game or a 2-1 game until the offense is there on a consistent basis. We were scoring earlier when we were going hard to the net. I didn't see a big push in the third. Give them credit - they defended well and kept us to the outside, but the desperation level to score is important."

CANES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST PANTHERS
2:00 a.m.
The Carolina Hurricanes suffered their second loss to the New York Rangers in just over a week's time on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
But, less than 24 hours after the final horn in New York, the Canes will get back on the ice against the Florida Panthers in Raleigh with the chance to get back in the win column.
"Right back at it tomorrow. We'll swallow this one and move forward," Jordan Staal said. "It's a tough one in the division, as well. Big points, and we came up short. We're going to have to find ways to get up the ladder here. Tomorrow's a big game, and we'll hopefully be ready for it."
"It's positive that we play the very next day. We can't sulk forever," Justin Williams said. "We've got a game tomorrow, and we've got to come up with two points or else we're here again."
Williams was the lone goal-scorer in the Canes' 5-1 loss to the Rangers, a final score that wasn't exactly indicative of the game as a whole. Williams' goal, his 700th point in the NHL, got things started just 55 seconds into the game. The Rangers then scored two goals in a span of 85 seconds early in the second period, grabbing a lead they would never relent.
"It's frustrating, for sure," Staal said. "We were pushing for it right until the end. We created some shots but I don't think we were dirty enough around the net."
"Was it a 5-1 game? No. But that doesn't really matter," Williams said. "The fact of the matter is the game was there for the taking. We tried to take a shortcut to winning. We didn't find it tonight. We need to plow through, rectify this and figure out what it is that's making us be average because we're a lot better team."
The Panthers will also be looking to get back in the win column after dropping a 2-1 decision to the San Jose Sharks at home on Friday night.
Saturday night's game will mark a brief stop at home for the Hurricanes, who will hit the road again on Sunday to begin a two-week, six-game road trip.
CANESPR NOTES: The Canes are 32-10-4 at home against Florida since moving into PNC Arena in the 1999-2000 season. … The Hurricanes posted a 9-1-2 record against Atlantic Division teams at home in the 2016-17 season.
