Preview: Hurricanes at Predators

NASVHILLE - The Carolina Hurricanes and their moms hit Broadway for a Tuesday night cross-conference match-up against the Nashville Predators.
It's a quick one-game road trip for the Canes, who earned three of a possible four points in two games at home over the weekend.

Mothers Know Best
The Hurricanes have their moms in tow for this trip to Nashville, a chance for the moms to experience the day in the life of their sons and a chance for the sons to show appreciation for the most important people in their lives.

"They're such a big part of hockey players' lives growing up. It's such a sacrifice to play hockey. Every sport it is, but hockey seems to be - the travel, everything involved in it, it's such an expensive sport to play. There's a lot of sacrifice," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said after practice on Monday. "I think the dads get a lot of credit, but the moms are just as if not more important in all that. It's nice they get to see their kids … and what their life is like. Give them a little glimpse. I think it's great."

Locked in a dogfight of a playoff race, it's not as if the Canes need any extra motivation.
"You don't want to let mom down," Brind'Amour said.
Aho's 300th
Sebastian Aho skated in his 300th career game on Sunday, as he became the fifth player selected in the 2015 NHL Draft to do so. Aho ranks third in his draft class in goals (116) and fourth in points (253).
PROJECTED LINEUP
In his 300th game, Aho added to his career-best mark in goals with Nos. 32 and 33 on the season. Aho brings a season-long, nine-game point streak (9g, 6a) into Tuesday's game. The Finnish center is a point-per-game producer against the Predators with four goals and three assists (seven points) in seven games.
The Last Meeting
The Hurricanes suffered their first shutout loss of the season on Nov. 29, when the
Predators left Raleigh with a 3-0 win
. Pekka Rinne made 31 saves en route to snapping the Canes' six-game winning streak against Nashville.

"We were not poor tonight, that's for sure," Brind'Amour said after the game. "We just weren't able to capitalize. That's it."
The Opposition
The Predators are riding a three-game winning streak in which they've outscored their opponents 11-4. Nashville shut out the New York Islanders before scoring two straight wins against St. Louis in a back-to-back, home-and-home set over the weekend. The Preds are knocking on the door of a playoff spot in the Western Conference with 65 points (29-22-7) in 58 games, three points back of the Coyotes with a whopping four games in hand.
