Canes Announce Capacity Increase for Playoffs

RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the NHL has approved PNC Arena to host an increased capacity of more than 15,000 fans for all remaining home games in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. A precise updated capacity will be determined prior to the next home game.

PNC Arena installed a 500-ton chiller that will allow the facility to increase air flow, while maintaining the integrity of the playing surface. The Hurricanes worked closely with the locally-based
Gregory Poole Equipment Company
to have the upgrade installed.
"We are grateful to the NHL and to our friends at Gregory Poole for allowing us to safely increase capacity in time for this weekend," said Waddell. "The atmosphere for our home games at PNC Arena has been incredible, and we are looking forward to hosting even more of our passionate fans."
The increased capacity will be effective immediately for Game 7 against the Nashville Predators on Saturday, if necessary.
