RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the following hockey operations changes: Paul Schonfelder has been named goaltending coach, Jason Muzzatti has been named goaltender development coach, Matthew Aiello has been named assistant athletic trainer, and Dave Paul has been named equipment manager.

Schonfelder previously served as the Hurricanes' minor league goaltending consultant for two seasons. Jason Muzzatti, who served as the team's goaltending coach during the 2019-20 season, will serve as the Hurricanes' goaltender development coach. Muzzatti will be responsible for working with all goaltenders in Carolina's minor-league system, including drafted players in the Canadian major-junior hockey leagues, ECHL and American Hockey League (AHL).
Aiello joins the Hurricanes after serving as the head athletic trainer for the Charlotte Checkers during the 2019-20 AHL season. Paul is in his ninth season with the Hurricanes and previously served as assistant equipment manager from 2012-20.
Waddell also announced changes to the team's communications department. Mike Brown has been promoted to Manager of Communications following the departure of Pace Sagester to pursue other opportunities.
