Boston Drops 7-4 Loss to Buffalo in Prospects Challenge

The 2017 Boston Bruins Rookie Camp, presented by AT&T, is taking place before main camp opens on Sept. 14. As part of camp, the rookies are competing in the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, and competing against prospects from the Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, and New Jersey Devils. BUFFALO - The Bruins prospects dropped a 7-4 loss to the Buffalo Sabres prospects on Saturday night at the HarborCenter in thPhoeir second game of the Prospects Challenge.
The Bruins' rookies will next have a practice day on Sunday, before finishing their exhibition games with a Monday matinee against the New Jersey Devils prospects (12:00 p.m. ET, live stream TBD).

Eight players suited up in their first game action of the Challenge, including Charlie McAvoy, Anders Bjork, Jake DeBrusk, Rob O'Gara and Sean Kuraly, along with camp invites Ethan Sakowich and Alex Gacek.
As was the case on Friday night, the game started out in a scramble, with players finding their legs and their hands.
Buffalo got on the road first with a power-play goal from Hudson Fasching, but Justin Hickman tied it up 1-1 with 3:39 to go in the first when the puck banked in off his chest.
The game went back and forth, with a 3-3 tie heading into the third period, thanks to Sean Kuraly's tally and Ryan Fitzgerald's power-play goal.
The third period got chippy, with nine penalties called, including fighting majors on Jake DeBrusk and Buffalo's Arvin Atwal.
The Sabres went up 6-3, thanks to the power plays, and ultimately took the game 7-4 with an empty-netter.
Bjork fired in a goal late in the third period in his first game action since playing for Team USA in the World Championship in May.
The Bruins outshot the Sabres 38-23 overall.

On his takeaways from Game 2…
I'd say that I really liked our first two periods. The first period got a little whacky and I think we all kind of lost composure. Half the time we didn't know what was being called, and it was tough. I thought we skated, and we competed, and we had some chances. We had over 20 chances the first two periods, so just one of those games I suppose.
On Jakub Zboril's game…
He was involved, he liked playing, he made some major hits, and made some nice plays as well. Maybe Charlie rubbed off on him a little bit, but in saying that, I think he took it upon himself to really improve his game, so I really thought highly of him and his game tonight.
On Ryan Fitzgerald's game…
Fitz was good. Serviceable. He plays a lot of positions, he was all over the puck, he gets inside guys and obviously he was on the board. He's effective when he's on that puck - when he's skating and when he's on that puck, he's really effective.
