Sean Kuraly Bio

Kuraly was a throw-in when the Boston Bruins traded goaltender Martin Jones to the San Jose Sharks for a first-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft on June 30, 2015. The native of Dublin, Ohio, had been taken by the Sharks in the fifth round (No. 133) of the 2011 NHL Draft, after his second season with Indianapolis of the United States Hockey League.

Instead of turning pro, Kuraly headed for Miami of Ohio, playing four seasons there. He was named captain but struggled offensively as a senior, finishing with 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 36 games, before signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the Bruins on June 30, 2016.
