After concluding a five-game home stand, the Nashville Predators have hit the road for a quick trip to New Jersey to face the Devils tonight in the final contest before NHL All-Star Weekend.
It's the first of two meetings this season between the Preds and Devils, with Nashville looking to extend their point streak to eight consecutive games. Tonight marks Nashville's first road game since Jan. 6 in Los Angeles - a span of 19 days - and the team won't hit the road again until Feb. 5 against the Islanders. Nashville is 12-7-4 on the road this season, tied for the fourth-most victories away from home in the NHL.

Defenseman Mattias Ekholm rejoined the Predators lineup on Tuesday after missing one game due to illness. Forward Filip Forsberg was on the ice once more during Wednesday's practice in Nashville, but was sporting a non-contact jersey and remains on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury.

Last Time Out:
The Predators saw a five-game win streak come to an end as Tampa Bay came back to collect a 4-3 win in overtime on Tuesday. Ryan Ellis, Viktor Arvidsson and P.K. Subban scored for Nashville in the loss, while Juuse Saros minded the net, seeing his record move to 5-0-4 in his last nine starts.
With his goal on Tuesday, Subban became Nashville's leading scorer, one of just two defensemen to currently lead their team in scoring. Kevin Fiala has 29 points, followed by Arvidsson and Roman Josi who have 28 points apiece.
The Opposition:
The Devils have dropped three straight, including a 3-2 loss to Boston on Tuesday night. Goaltender Cory Schneider left Tuesday's game in the second period and did not return. In addition, Devils forward Taylor Hall has missed the last two games due to injury and is questionable for tonight.
Hall is New Jersey's leading scorer with 17 goals and 48 points, 18 points ahead of the closest challenger. Jesper Bratt follows Hall with 12 goals and 30 points, while the first selection in the 2017 NHL Draft, Nico Hischier, has 29 points.
All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 11-9-(0)-5 all-time against the Devils, including a 4-5-(0)-4 record in New Jersey. Overall, the Preds have picked up at least a point in eight of their last 10 meetings with the Devils dating back to Dec. 17, 2010. Nashville has also earned at least a point in six straight road games against New Jersey (3-0-3).
On Jan. 30, 1999, Sebastien Bordeleau scored the game-winner (2:43) for Nashville in the franchise's first overtime victory.

Roman Josi is on a four-game point streak against the Devils (3g-3a) and Craig Smith has four points (1g-3a) during his current three-game point streak versus New Jersey.
