The Nashville Predators (19-17-6) will look to get back in the win column as they host the Calgary Flames (21-14-9) Monday at Bridgestone Arena.

The Good Guys

  • Goaltender Juuse Saros was named to the Central Division's squad for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game last week. He made a franchise-record 64 saves on Jan. 5 at Carolina; it was tied for the third-most saves in a regular-season game in NHL history, and was tied for the second-most in a regulation regular-season contest. (The NHL began tracking saves officially in 1955-56.) His 67 shots against were also the most in a game in Predators history. He followed it up with a 38-save shutout on Monday at Ottawa. It was his first shutout of the season and the 19th of his NHL career. Saros owns a 19.28 goals saved above average (GSAA) since Nov. 12, the best mark in the League (per Natural Stat Trick).
  • Filip Forsberg has 34 points (16g-18a) in his last 35 games dating back to Oct. 22 vs. Philadelphia. He became the quickest player in Predators history to reach the 500-point mark, doing so in his 601st career game Dec. 31 at Vegas. He has nine goals and 12 points in his last 10 games, including goals in three straight games from Jan. 9-12 (3g). He's up to 34 career three-point games, the most in Predators history.
  • Roman Josi has 30 points (10g-20a) in his last 33 games after scoring a goal Saturday vs. Buffalo. He has now recorded nine 10-goal seasons in his NHL career, the second-most in Predators history behind David Legwand (13). His 33 points are the ninth-most by an NHL defensemen in 2022-23;
  • Juuso Parssinen, who made his NHL debut on Nov. 12, has 17 points (4g-13a) in his first 28 career NHL games. He's currently on a six-game point streak that began Jan. 5 (1g-7a), tied for the second-longest by a rookie in franchise history. The longest, seven games, belongs to Forsberg, who did so from Oct. 31-Nov. 13, 2014 (7g-6a).
  • Tommy Novak has eight points (4g-4a) in 13 games with Nashville since being recalled from Milwaukee (AHL) on Dec. 19.
  • Jeremy Lauzon scored his career-high third goal of the season on Saturday vs. Buffalo. He now has five points (3g-2a) and a +7 rating in his last 10 games; his 42 hits since Dec. 27 are the second-most in the NHL, bolstered by his nine against the Sabres, the most in a game by a Predators player this season and tied for the third-most in a game in franchise history.

The Other Guys

The Flames have now won two straight and have six of a possible eight points on their five-game road trip concluding in Nashville.
Elias Lindholm leads the Flames with 40 points (14g-26a), and his 26 assists are also a team high. Nazem Kadri has a team-leading 17 goals on the season.

All-Time Meetings

The Predators are 39-25-(4)-13 all-time against the Flames, including a 21-12-(1)-8 record at Bridgestone Arena. This is the second of three matchups between Nashville and Calgary in 2022-23 and the first and only at home.

Nashville is 1-0-0 against Calgary this season, picking up a 4-1 win at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Nov. 3. The Predators have only lost three times in regulation to the Flames since Dec. 15, 2015 (10-3-6) and have picked up at least one point in 25 of their last 32 games (17-7-8).

  • Josi has five goals and 19 assists in 30 career games vs. Calgary.
  • Ryan Johansen has nine points (3g-6a) in his last 13 meetings with the Flames, and 15 points (5g-10a) in 28 career games against Calgary.
  • Saros is 6-1-1 with a .918 save percentage in nine career games vs. the Flames.
  • Mikael Granlund became the fourth player in NHL history to score a game-tying goal in the final 10 seconds of regulation and the overtime winner (regular season and playoffs) on Feb. 27, 2020 vs. Calgary.
  • Matt Duchene became the first 40-goal scorer in Predators history on April 19, 2022 vs. Calgary.
  • Mark Jankowski was drafted by Calgary in the first round (21st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He posted 64 points (36g-28a) in 208 games with the Flames from 2016-20.

Last Time Out

Nashville moved to 9-7-3 at home in 2022-23 with Saturday's loss to Buffalo. The Predators have now dropped their last three games (0-3-0).
The Predators tied the game after trailing 1-0 and 3-1. Eight different Nashville skaters tallied a point, led by Johansen's two (1g-1a); It was Johansen's third multi-point game of the season and first since Dec. 1 at New Jersey (2g-1a). His goal (108) moved him past Jason Arnott (107) for the ninth-most in Predators history.
Lauzon scored his third goal of the season and had nine hits, the most in a game by a Predators player this season. Nashville had 41 shots on goal, eclipsing the 40-shot mark for the sixth time in 2022-23.
