Forsberg Named NHL's Second Star of the Month

Seventeen points in 13 games is worth noticing, and the NHL has done so.
The League named Predators winger Filip Forsberg the Second Star of the Month for his contributions in February, statistically the best month of Forsberg's career. His 17 points over 28 days in just 13 games marks his highest point total for a single month, but it's the tear he's been on for the last week and a half that has his peers in awe.
Forsberg is currently riding a six-game point streak with 14 of his 17 points in the month coming during that span. Forsberg has goals in five-straight games - 10 tallies to be exact - becoming the first player to record 10 goals in five games since Pavel Bure did it in January of 2001. Three of those goals have been of the game-winning variety, including Tuesday's overtime winner in Buffalo to give Nashville points in six consecutive outings.

Forsberg was already named the NHL's First Star of the Week just two days ago, thanks largely in part to back-to-back hat tricks last week against Calgary and Colorado. The Swede has 23 goals in his past 33 games, more than any other player in that span. His 11 goals in February also led the League.

"No. No I haven't [seen anything like this]," defenseman P.K. Subban said of Forsberg after Tuesday's OT win in Buffalo. "He's the best player in the League right now the way he's playing. He's just got to continue, whatever he's doing, I don't know what it is, just keep doing it."
It's the second time this season a member of the Predators has been given Star of the Month honors; goaltender Pekka Rinne was named the NHL's First Star of the Month in November.
Forsberg will look to continue his scoring streaks on Thursday when the Preds visit Montreal.
