Ford Ice Center to Host 2018 Figure Skating Regionals

Nashville, Tenn. (October 29, 2016) - U.S. Figure Skating has announced its host cities for the 2018 qualifying and synchronized qualifying seasons. Among the various stops is Ford Ice Center, which will host the Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships from Oct. 18 - 22, 2017.
"It feels great to win this event," Olympic Gold Medalist and Principal of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy based at Ford Ice Center Scott Hamilton said. "I won Juveniles, Intermediates, Novice and Juniors at Eastern Great Lakes Regional Competitions. I'm excited for Nashville to host the first qualifying competition of the 2018 Olympic season!"
This is the first-year Ford Ice Center has been involved with U.S. Figure Skating and to be chosen as a stop on the Championship schedule is an honor.

According to the U.S. Figure Skating website, the top four skaters in both the men's and women's events at each of the nine regional championships will qualify for one of three sectional championships. From there, the top four finishers at each level in each discipline at the sectional championships will earn a berth to the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships Dec. 29, 2017 - Jan. 7, 2018, in San Jose, California; the sectional championships are the only qualifying phase for pairs and ice dance. The top four finishers at the synchronized sectional championships will earn a berth to the 2018 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, the location and dates for which will be announced at a later time.
