“He can unleash that any time he wants, but he's a smart player and he doesn't like to get shots blocked,” head coach Paul Maurice said of Forsling’s renowned cannon. “But he is a powerful, fit man. He played an incredible game, a strong game, and then he can still get up the ice at the end [of overtime] and unleash that. So, we're very fortunate to have him.”
For those that have been paying attention, Forsling’s powerful shot isn’t surprising.
Last season, the 30-year-old let loose the 10th-hardest shot by a defenseman in the NHL (100.41 mph), while also firing 19 shots that were recorded within the 90-100 mph range.
“He’s a beast out there,” fellow defenseman Seth Jones said. “You see it year after year. When he gets a shot, it’s a bullet. I don’t even know if it was screened or if he beat him clean, but he can sure beat goalies clean from there. It was a hell of a shot.”
Forsling's 100-plus blast last season came against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 8, 2025.
On Thursday, the Panthers will face the Sharks at SAP Center at 10 p.m. ET.
