EDMONTON, AB - Rodion Amirov is making his case to be a first-round selection at the upcoming NHL Draft as he's off to a strong start to the 2020-21 KHL season.
The left-winger has scored two goals and two assists in seven games with Salavat Yulaev Ufa as he enters the Oct. 6-7 draft as the fifth-ranked European skater by NHL Central Scouting.
Amirov has also played three games with Toros Neftekamsk of the VHL, Russia's second-tier league, this season, recording a goal and an assist. The 18-year-old, who will turn 19 on Friday, had two assists in 21 KHL games last season, as well as one goal and two assists in five VHL games.
Russia's top junior league, the MHL, is where Amirov (6-foot-0, 168 pounds) was able to showcase his skills in 2019-20, as he scored 10 goals and 12 assists in 17 games with Tolpar Ufa.
