PRE-GAME REPORT

CHICAGO, IL - Welcome to the Windy City.
Where the Oilers and Blackhawks will collide on Sunday, in a game that has both clubs on the heels of back-to-backs. Edmonton was able to dismantle the powerhouse Nashville Predators by a score of 5-3 - while Chicago suffered a 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
"Tonight is going to be a tough game, going back-to-back against some good teams," said defender Oscar Klefbom, who played 30:15 and picked up an assist in Nashville.
Prior to their clash against the Predators, Edmonton toppled the Washington Capitals, the National Hockey League's reigning Stanley Cup champions.
Before the Blackhawks fell to the Blues, the Central Division squad was on a two-game winning streak, securing victories over the Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers. Chicago sits fifth in their division with a 6-3-2 record and 14 points.
"I've looked at our team from the beginning of the year and I think we've built each night," said Oilers Head coach Todd McLellan, whose club is 5-1-1 in the last seven games. "Not a great start but every night we've got better in different areas. We've found more and more players to contribute on both sides of the puck offensively and defensively.
"It will be a good test for us."
KANE NOT GIVE HIM SPACE
The Blackhawks boast two major offensive threats in Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, with the latter of the two topping the League in goals with 11 in as many games. No. 88 maintained his pace on Saturday, factoring into every instance of offensive his team could muster versus St. Louis, nabbing two goals and a helper.
So, how do you limit the high-flying Hawks?
"That's a good question," started McLellan. "Teams have been trying to do that for years… Patrick Kane's been outstanding so far this year. He leads the League in goals, five and a half shots a night - those are just the ones that get to the goaltender - and he's got a tremendous shot.
"We'll try to take his time and space away."
Kane and Toews are consistent producers head-to-head with the Oil. The two have each played 37 games against the Orange & Blue over their careers, with Kane notching 15 goals and 49 points and Toews maintaining a point-per-game average with 17 markers and 37 points.
"They're always two guys that you can never go to sleep against," said goalkeeper Cam Talbot, who's 4-3-1 this season with a 2.88 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. "You always have to be ready, especially as a goaltender. Make sure your reads are right but those guys, they create so much offence and they're so skilled that you never know what they're going to do."
Klefbom, who will surely see plenty of both players on Sunday, is aware of their potency but maintains the Oilers must focus on their own game plan in order to achieve a victorious road trip.
"They're really skilled and can make some good plays out there but if we focus too much on them, we won't play our best game," he said. "We got to focus on what we're doing good right now and it's obviously working for us because we've been playing against some really good players already."
BUILDING OFF THE BACKUP
Netminder Talbot will man the pipes at The Madhouse.
The Oilers starter wants to build off the performance of Mikko Koskinen, who stopped 24 shots in his Oilers debut the other night.
"He was outstanding for us," said Talbot. "Made a lot of big saves, especially early in the game to give us some momentum to find our legs there. Once we did, we played a pretty solid game in front of him.
"I'm just going to look to come in, build off his game last night and build off my last performance."
In Talbot's last outing, the 'tender was almost flawless in Edmonton's 4-1 win against the Caps, stopping 31 of 32 shots for an impressive .969 save percentage.
"This is always a tough building to play in and obviously they're going to come out hard given the result they had last night," he continued. "I'm sure they're going to have extra motivation after last night, so we're going to have to be ready."
LINEUP NOTES
Coach McLellan said he will administer the same lineup as he did a night before. That means Evan Bouchard, Jesse Puljujarvi and Cooper Marody will be out.
"I like the line combinations that we've found over the last little bit here," said the bench boss. "We've been able to spread our offence out rather than just have a select two or three guys contribute. That'll have to happen tonight."
Here's how the lineup is expected to look:
Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Yamamoto
Rieder - Draisaitl - Chiasson
Lucic - Strome - Caggiula
Khaira - Brodziak - Kassian
Klefbom - Larsson
Nurse - Russell
Garrison - Benning
Talbot
